The 3STEPS project intends to increase the chances of migrants and refugees to remain within the educational and vocational system of their host country by providing them basic skills as well as a stable grounding for further personal achievements.

An Erasmus+ Programme KA3 ‘Support for Policy Reform’
Started on 15 January 2020
Funded for three years by the European Commission - DG EACEA.

Objectives
The project aims to:
- implement the two good practices ‘Basic Education Classes’ and ‘Tandem Now’ in the Austrian, French, Greek, Italian, Spanish and Turkish educational systems;
- train teachers on intercultural competence, inclusion and shared values through a ‘blended training approach’;
- train mentors on the above-mentioned subject through a ‘blended mentoring approach’ to develop their social and professional skills;
- improve education of young migrants and refugees of 15-25 years old in an innovative way;
- call for policy reform;
- foster communication and promote inclusion.
The project addresses the needs of several target groups:
Provide schools and training institutions
with innovative methodologies for qualitative and inclusive education of young migrants and refugees;
Improve competences of teachers and youth workers
through a blended training and a tailored curriculum on intercultural competence, inclusion and shared values;
Provide classes
on literacy, numeracy, language and digitalization for young migrants and refugees of 15 – 25 years old;
Support
ngos, civil society and migrant communities in educational context;
Address policy makers
and relevant stakehoders to upscale the activities of the project
How to get involved:
For teachers and youth workers
- take part to our online questionnaires to assess the current situation in partners countries on inclusive education, and to adapt 3STEPS to your needs
- attend our blended training on intercultural competence, inclusion and shared values; and strengthen your capacities to work with young migrant and refugees through a tailored curriculum!
- learn and apply our two good practices Basic Education Classes’ and ‘Tandem Now’
For mentors:
- attend our blended training on intercultural competence, inclusion and shared values; and develop your social and professional skills!
- be part of a regional pools of mentors
- take the chance to offer a vocational orientation and blended learning to your fellows through interactive ‘Role Models’
For young migrants and refugees of 15 - 25 years old:
- attend our basic education training on literacy, numeracy and digital skills; you will get the support of a mentor of your same cultural background!
- Don’t miss leisure activities too!
For policy makers and relevant stakeholders:
- be part of an European network committed to a transnational policy brief on standard of social inclusion
- engage with us and provide your recommendations on 3STEPS methodologies
- attend our transnational conference live-streamed from Austria
- introduce the outcomes of the project into the educational system of your country!
For Civil Society:
- contribute to raise awareness on 3STEPS good practices at local level
- support us in the promotion of methodologies on inclusive education
Deliverables
National Reports
on the current situation in partners countries on inclusive education, but also the challenges posed to 3STEPS methodology, as well as parallel programs of similar kind to consider space for cooperation/inspiration;
Handbook for teachers and mentors
which includes recommendations on how to address the beneficiary group, providing creative and innovative ideas for teaching methods;
Youth Training Curriculum
which ensures vocational orientation and blended learning carried out for migrant and refugees by mentors of the same cultural background;
Policy Brief
on standard of social inclusion for migrants and refugees, as well as recommendation on 3STEPS methodologies to encourage teaching, training institutions and European countries to develop them within their countries.
